What does “much less choice than there was” actually mean?

The number of things Etsy returns under that person’s budget has dropped below half of the widest it has ever been for them — or below eight, which is not a choice whatever the history says. The full rule.

Nothing changed on my end. Why did the number fall?

Because the things at your price sold. Most of Etsy is made one at a time, so when a listing goes it does not come back. A budget set in September is buying from a different shelf by November, and that is the entire reason this exists.

I raised a budget and the “was as many as” figure vanished.

Changing a budget resets it deliberately. The old figure counted a different question, and measuring against it would announce a collapse that was really you changing your mind.

Why is there no total on my plan?

The gifts you have chosen are priced in more than one currency. Adding them would need a conversion rate this app does not have and would be wrong by the time you read it, so it refuses and says which currencies are involved.

Do I have to connect my Etsy account?

No, and you cannot — there is nothing to connect. Only public listing data is read. Signing in here uses Google, for your email address and nothing else.

Can other people see my list, or claim a gift off it?

No. There is no sharing, no public link, no registry. Your plan is visible only when signed in as you. The idea was considered and dropped: a list that other people can open is a different product with a much worse privacy story.

Can I get an email at a different address from the one I sign in with?

Not today. Ask — if a few people want it, it goes in.

Can I be told earlier, or less often?

How do I delete everything?

Delete everything on your account page. It removes the plan, every person, every shortlist and your address in one transaction, immediately.

Something is wrong with a figure.

Mail the address above with the person’s row and what you expected. A wrong number here is worth more to me than a compliment.
